To become the leading provider of quality contract services for the State of Alaska

Our History

M. C. Corporation (Morning Calm Corporation) focuses on the enhancement of small
businesses in the State of Alaska. Its mission is to provide “Quality Services through
Excellence”. MCC’s business strategy is to identify niche business opportunities and
embellish its market potential through methodical innovations in its processes. During
the last eight years, MCC has developed businesses in contract and retail services.
MC Corporation was formed on December 9th, 1991 by a group of minority residents in
Anchorage, Alaska. At the time of incorporation, MC Corporation (MCC) provided
cleaning services on-post for the quarters at Ft. Richardson, the local US Army base,
and professional office buildings in Anchorage. Upon receiving 8(a) status in February
1994, MC pursued various 8(a) set-aside contracts with the Federal Government in its
respective fields.

Since December 1991, MC Corporation expanded its janitorial customer base by securing Elmendorf Air Force Base’s custodial contracts and receiving more commercial contracts. In the third quarter of 1994, MCC received both the 8(a) and a non-8(a) janitorial contracts for Elmendorf Air Force Base. In April 1999, MCC was awarded the consolidated custodial service contract for a second time.

MC Corporation also expanded its capabilities into the food service area. In October 1995, MCC began its food service attendant contract at Elmendorf Air Force Base on very short notice. This contract’s scope of work includes food preparation, serving, cashiering, and sanitation of the dining facilities and kitchen areas. MCC met the challenges of the contract and won the food service contract for a second time beginning in July 1999. MCC has received the following

awards while fulfilling it’s food service contract at Elmendorf AFB: Annual Base Sanitation Award at the Kenai 1997, 1998 and Iditarod Dining Facility1999, Food Service Excellence Award (PACAF) 1995, 1996, 1999, DSCP Award for Food Service Excellence (AF wide) 2000, Hennessy Air Force Award 2000 and 2001.

Also in 1995, MCC purchased a gas station, Y & B Texaco, which has three service bays. In May of 1997, MCC realized yet another long-term goal and entered the laundry and garment alternations business with the purchase of Dimond Cleaners. Its first location and main plant was brought on-line at the corner of Arctic and Dimond in Anchorage. Since then, MC has opened two additional pick-up/drop-off sites, one at Lake Otis and Abbot Loop and the other in the Phillips Tower Atrium in downtown Anchorage.

In November of 1997, MC hired a business consultant, George S. May, to evaluate and train management of the Corporation. Since the training, MCC has made numerous enhancements and is better positioned to manage its divisions and expand.

Denali Electronics, LLC (DE) was formed in 1998. DE opened a RadioShack dealer store and acquired Magnum Electronics, now Todays Electronics, in the beginning of 1999. A mobile electronics installation department opened in 2000 in order to provide Todays customers with in-house installation services.

Finally, MC Corporation signed a contract with the Defense Commissary Agency Western/Pacific Region in November 1999 to provide night and day shelf stocking, custodial, floor maintenance, and receiving/storage/holding area services at Eielson Air Force Base Commissary.

MC Corporation’s scope of business services includes janitorial services, food service management, warehouse –receiving/stocking/handling, laundry/dry cleaning and garment alterations, gas and automobile repair. Denali
